After losing two children in a brutal attack, Debbie suffered from PTSD and depression. With few mental health professionals in rural Anza, CA, she struggled to get the help she needed. Then a local community health center, Borrego Health started using telehealth to connect patients to providers outside of Anza. Debbie got the regular psychiatric care she needed and began to heal.
Her cactus garden now symbolizes her life, “When it’s cold and brutal out there, part of them dies and comes back. Some of them are kind of ugly and wilting, but then there’s a beautiful piece that comes out of it.”
