Michelle Kuppich is the Executive Director of the California Food is Medicine Coalition (CalFIMC) consisting of several community-based organizations that provide medically tailored meals and medically tailored groceries in conjunction with medical nutrition therapy services for people with chronic and other serious health conditions. In this role, she advances the Coalition members’ capabilities to sustainably provide high quality nutrition interventions in partnership with the health care system, advocates for telehealth as a delivery modality option at CalFIMC organizations, leads efforts to achieve coalition level analytics capabilities, and seeks partnerships to help the coalition innovate while elevating and preserving the community-based organization intervention model. Michelle is a registered dietitian (RD) with 30 years of diverse professional experiences. Prior to her role at CalFIMC, she advanced the case for nutrition in value-based care at the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and produced the Academy’s Quick Guide to Practicing Telehealth during the COVID 19 Public Health Emergency. She implemented clinical quality improvement initiatives at Brown & Toland Physicians in San Francisco, and has provided medical nutrition therapy services for adults in numerous practice settings, which includes providing services via telehealth.
