    David Wu MD, PhD

Harvard-Stanford AI Research and Science Evaluation (ARISE) Network
David Wu is a physician–scientist and resident in the Harvard Combined Dermatology Program at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. His work sits at the intersection of dermatology, clinical informatics, and medical artificial intelligence, with a focus on improving the safety, reliability, and real‑world performance of AI in healthcare. Dr. Wu has over a decade of research experience spanning genomics, clinical and biomedical informatics, stem cell biology, CRISPR technology, biologics, and inflammatory skin disease. His current research integrates electronic health record data and advanced AI methods to study physician–AI collaboration, evaluate clinical reasoning in AI systems, and identify pathways to safer, more aligned medical AI. He earned his MD‑PhD in molecular genetics from the University of California, San Francisco, where his doctoral research focused on systematic genomic approaches to human stem cell differentiation. Prior to medical school, he was an NIH Intramural Research Training Award fellow in the Anthony Fauci Lab at NIAID, contributing to early clinical research on direct‑acting antivirals for hepatitis C. Dr. Wu’s work has been published in leading journals, including Science Immunology, and he is actively engaged in national conversations on the evaluation and governance of clinical AI.
