SESSION 2

AI vs. MD: Can ChatGPT Outsmart Diabetes, Heart Disease, and America's Obesity Crisis?

Time: 11:00 – 11:45am PT

This panel brings together pioneering researchers from Stanford and a regulatory expert from the Mayo Clinic to explore the emerging battleground where artificial intelligence meets medicine’s most devastating chronic diseases. Attendees will discover cutting-edge research findings comparing AI diagnostic and treatment capabilities against human clinicians and discuss implications for the chronic disease crisis. The conversation will navigate the complex regulatory landscape evolving around healthcare AI, examining current frameworks designed to ensure these powerful tools enhance rather than compromise patient safety and clinical outcomes. Distinguished panelists will address critical questions at the intersection of technology and medicine: What safeguards must be implemented to ensure effective systems meant to prevent and reverse chronic disease are prioritized and implemented at scale safely? How can AI tools be meaningfully integrated into clinical workflows without disrupting the doctor-patient relationship? What evidence threshold and guardrails should be required before deploying AI systems in high-stakes clinical scenarios involving complex chronic conditions?

Cybersecurity: Fortifying Healthcare's Most Vulnerable Frontiers

Time: 1:00 – 1:45pm PT

This dynamic session brings together two national cybersecurity leaders—Greg Garcia, Executive Director of the Health Sector Coordinating Council (HSCC) Cybersecurity Working Group (CWG), and Jennifer Stoll, Chief External Affairs Officer, OCHIN and member of the HSCC CWG Executive Committee —for a timely and critical discussion on the state of cybersecurity across the healthcare sector. Telehealth-Driven Nutrition Strategies for Chronic Disease and Pediatric Obesity Management

Time: 4:00 – 4:45pm PT

This session will explore two complementary but distinct approaches to leveraging telehealth for nutrition-based interventions to combat chronic disease rates, particularly in rural and low-resourced areas. Attendees will also learn about the TeleWOW program, a multidisciplinary telehealth initiative designed specifically to combat pediatric obesity in rural and medically underserved communities. This program uses telenutrition as one key tool within a broader framework of clinical and behavioral interventions. Attendees will come away with a clear understanding of how these strategies differ, how they complement each other, and how they can be deployed to strengthen care delivery. This session is ideal for dietitians, clinic managers, and telehealth teams seeking to expand their chronic disease management toolkit through innovative, evidence-based nutrition approaches.
