State Bill # Status Summary
CA AB 1488 6/29/17: In Senate Health Committee: Hearing canceled at request of author. Requires the State Department of Public Health to establish a sickle cell disease center pilot program.  Funds can be used for the establishment of a telehealth system or an online consultation service to support patients with sickle cell disease and health care professionals who treat them.
CA AB 205 7/5/17: In Senate. Read second time and amended. Re-referred to Committee on Health. This bill allows Medi-Cal managed care plans to request alternative access standards, if they have exhausted all other reasonable options to obtain providers to meet either time and distance or timely access standards.  It would allow telemedicine or e-visits as a means of alternative access standards.
CA AB 244 4/18/17: In Committee. Hearing cancelled at request by author. Creates a pilot program in counties that elect to participate, designed to increase the capacity of health providers that serve pregnant and postpartum women up to one year after delivery to effectively prevent, identify, and manage postpartum depression and other mental health conditions. Provides that the pilot program would be privately funded.  The pilot program may include a provider-to-provider or patient-to-provider consultation program and utilize telehealth or e-consult technologies.
CA AB 401 6/19/17: In Senate Business, Professions and ED. Hearing postponed. This bill would authorize a registered pharmacy technician, who meets certain requirements, to work at a remote dispensing site pharmacy and to perform order entry, packaging, manipulative, repetitive, and other nondiscretionary tasks under the supervision of a pharmacist at a supervising pharmacy using a telepharmacy system. The bill would prohibit a pharmacy technician working at a remote dispensing site pharmacy from performing certain tasks, including receiving a new prescription order orally. The bill would authorize a pharmacist at a supervising pharmacy to supervise up to 2 pharmacy technicians at each remote dispensing site pharmacy in addition to any pharmacy technicians being supervised at the supervising pharmacy.

Clarifies that an occupational therapist does not need to obtain a patient’s/client’s consent for subsequent telehealth services once the patient initially consents to receive occupational therapy services via telehealth. Deletes informed from the language and otherwise reconstructs the language in the subsection to make it read better.

Title: Minimum Standards for Local Detention Facilities
